Frequently Asked Questions

We know it can be a little unnerving to visit new places or step into a new thing, especially when you're not exactly sure what to expect.

We hope these will give you a picture of Seed and make your first time around us good.

Q:   Why do you meet at 4pm? We have chosen to intentionally gather as a church community on Sunday evenings to allow for maximum optimization of our weekends. We encourage you to sleep in, spend time with friends & family, and even take weekend trips; and then start your new week with community, worship, and the Word of God at the Seed gathering.

Q: I'm not used to being around "church"; is it OK that I come just to see what it is like?

Absolutely. We are laid back and relational. We aren't a "quiz", "judgement", or "insider" culture. All people are welcome! Seed is open to everyone and we want it to be a comfortable place for those who are curious about God but have never felt comfortable in a "religious" church setting. We want Seed to be a place where you can feel welcomed, yet at the same time wrestle with who God is and what He wants for you. It's okay if you don't have it all figured out yet. We don't.

Q:   What kinds of things will happen when I go to a Seed Gathering?

At Seed we keep it very simple. It's relaxed but focused. We don't need to be flashy or put on big productions for people to meet God. We follow a basic pattern of meeting together that is traced back to the early Church. We spend some time singing together (a way to worship God). DON'T PANIC! If you don’t want to sing, you don’t have to. If you want to sing the words will be projected on a screen. We pray. Again, no need to panic. You will not be asked to pray out loud. We listen to a message that is derived from a portion of the Bible. You may or may not be familiar with this passage, you don’t need to be. But we do know that it is highly likely that you will be “challenged” by what you hear, whether you are already following Christ or not. We reflect and respond to the scriptures by taking Communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper. Anyone who is a believer in Jesus Christ is invited to join us in this reminder of Christ’s precious sacrifice for us. We provide opportunities for you to get more “personal” attention after the main gathering. You can meet a leader if you want to talk with one. You can have someone pray privately with you about your specific needs. You can stop by our connect cart to learn more about our Seed Communities or ask a question about Seed.

Q:  What do the pastors talk about?

The messages at Seed are always taken directly from the Bible and are practical in nature. We believe that God is actively involved in our everyday lives, so we present the timeless truths of the Bible in a format that's easy to understand, even if you've never been to church. Typically, messages are linked together in a series as we work our way through one book of the Bible in its entirety so we may fully understand God's truth in context. If you are coming in the middle of a series, that’s not problem because each message is understandable by itself and you can download earlier sermons from this website or wherever you get your podcasts, if you want to.

Q:  What should I wear?

You're welcome to wear whatever you'd like. There is no dress code, although most people dress more on the casual side. Just be you.

Q:  Will you ask me for money?

There is an opportunity during our gathering for those who participate in the life of Seed to give their tithes and offerings as a personal act of worship. However, nobody is pressured to give anything.

Q:  Will I have to stand up in front of people or introduce myself?

Nope. Although we hope that the people of Seed will greet you in a friendly manner, we do not draw attention to visitors. You can be as anonymous as you want to be. We will genuinely be stoked you are there.

Q:  Can I bring my kids and, if so, is there anything for them?

Absolutely. Seed is a family-friendly community. We believe that children are a gift from God and should be included in the life of our community. Your children can stay with you throughout your time with us, or they can go check out our Kids Community, which is called "Sprouts". This is a fun learning environment for children of all ages. We have a Kids' Community running during the gathering. For your peace of mind, the volunteers who work in our Kids’ Community have passed background checks.

Q:  Can I invite my friends to come with me?

Please do. We are a welcoming environment for people who are curious about Christ, following Christ, or who are seeking to belong to a community of believers. Is Seed a church and if so, what kind? We would simply say that we are a Christian church. We are not a part of a denomination. For a deeper look at our beliefs, please check out the “our beliefs” under the "welcome" tab on the upper-left side of this website. We would also recommend you read about "our mission" in the "about us" tab to learn about how we live out our beliefs as a church. For more information, if you have specific questions you would like to ask us that are not addressed here or elsewhere on this website, please feel free to call us or you can simply come to one of our Seed Gatherings and ask us your questions in person.
