Seed is Moving october 14

On Sunday August 26th we announced that we're moving. Multiple factors have led us to this decision but there were 3 compelling reasons that sealed the deal.

Mission + Time Management + Disciple Making

Mission

Over the last year we've assessed our ministry  as a local church. In looking at our mission, we realized that the area we've been lacking in most is our mission to Go to Culture. We've done very little in the community over the last 12 months. In addition, not much of our finance has been freed up for mercy ministry and outreach. Not much of our resource -time, treasure, and talents, are going to the culture. This played a huge factor in the decision. Seed is an Acts 29 Church; we plant churches who will plant church planting churches. To be focused on ourselves is a deviation from who God has called us to be.

Time Management

Seed is led by Bi Vocational Pastors with large families. We know how busy life can be and how important weekend rest, relaxation, and fun is for a balanced life. After receiving counsel from other churches we partner with around the US, we came to realize the unique opportunity to maximize time and minimize rush that meeting at 4 pm on Sunday is for us. We have chosen to intentionally gather as a church community on Sunday evenings to allow for maximum optimization of our weekends. We encourage you to sleep in, spend time with friends & family, and even take weekend trips; and then start your new week with community, worship, and the Word of God at the Seed Gathering.

Disciple Making

Nothing is more important to us than making disciples. Gather > Grow > Go is a philosophy of ministry that at it's core seeks to grow and mature followers of Jesus who will multiply themselves. We see meeting on Sunday evening as an unparalleled opportunity to prioritize both one-on-one and community discipleship. Our leaders are already beginning to shape their calendars around meeting before and after gatherings to help grow the people of Seed in knowledge and number.

TIMELINE

We are moving the Gathering to 889 E Santa Clara St, Ventura, CA 93001 Sundays at 4pm. Below is our projected timeline.

Things can change. Keep an eye on the closed Facebook group, and this webpage for up to the minute details.

Sun. Sept 16 - Ministry Teams Tour The River Community Church - 1pm

Sprouts, Connect, Hospitality, and Worship, and Tech Teams identify and select 2-3 people (think ministry leader, a picture taker, and a note taker) to tour the new space.

We will meet at Prospect Coffee at 12:15 (park along Santa Clara) to huddle up and walk over together. Once there we will toss our coffee cups in the trash, wipe our feet, split up into serve teams and run through the logistics of the new space.

Sat. Sept 22 - Work Day at The Seed House - 9am-2pm

Join us as we split up into teams and move the bulk of our belongings out of the building.

Work Day Teams:

  • Main Areas - Lobby and Gathering Room
  • Closets/Hall Storage
  • Bathrooms
  • Classrooms
  • Media/Tech
  • Office Space

*We will be tagging items in our building that are available to attendees to take home :)

Sat. Sept 29 - Work Day at The Seed House - 9am-2pm

Big push as we want everything out but the chairs. This will be a day to make any small repairs deemed necessary.

Sun. Sept 30 - Working Sunday at The Seed House - 10am

Join us to spend some time of prayer & thanksgiving in the space we’ve been in the last 3 years as we prepare to move out completely. We will be clearing out the last of the items (hopefully only chairs at this point) and leaving things “broom clean.”

This is an all hands on deck Sunday! Hooray for visitors!

Sun. Oct 7 - No Sunday Gathering | Serve Team Run Through - 1pm

Ministry Teams meet at The River to run through logistics of the new space at 1pm

Everyone else; Pray. Rest. Reflect. Visit another church. Opportunities abound. Use this Sunday to prepare for next week in our new space!

Sun. Oct 14 - First Sunday Gathering at 889 E Santa Clara St - 4pm

Invite your friends and family to join us for our first Sunday Gathering in our new space!
